 Greetings at 813 International Forum One Korea Event

Hello everyone? I sincerely welcome and thank you all particiants in this forum.

We are now opening the 2022 One Korea International Forum to commemorate the 77th anniversary of the Indepedance day of Korea and to seek ways of unification of two Koreas and of making of the world peace!

The theme of this year’s forum is <Peaceful unification of two Koreas is essential for the peace of Northeast Asia and of the world.>

I hope this forum will serve as a good opportunity to find out the realistic and effect way of reunification of korea.

Today’s world is at a very precarious situation. The global society is feeling anxious due to the corona pandemic, war in Ukraine, climate change, economic recession, the new Cold War between USA and China, and the nuclear development of North Korea and Iran etc.

In addition, the world economy is suffering of food shortages and energy supply difficulties due to the war in Ukraine. The tensions on the Korean Peninsula also show no prospect of easing. North Korea continues to strengthen its nuclear power, intercontinental ballistic missile and SLBM capabilities.

If it can’t be controlled, the Korean Peninsula might be the world's most dangerous gunpowder warehouse and potentially be a huge global catastrophe. If a war breaks out on the Korean peninsula, it may bes very easy to escalate into the World War.

But, if a permanent peace regime be established on the Korean peninsula, global peace will be more consolidated. So we have to try to solve the North Korean nuclear issue.

But North Korea refuse to negotiate for

denuclearization in order to establish a peace regime on the Korean Peninsula, we have to find other alternatives.

I think the unification of two Koreas might be the surest way to achieve non-nuclear warfare in the Korean Peninsula. Then what should we do for achieving unification of two Koreas?

The related big powers should do their rolls on the other way to that they had done in the process of division of korean peninsula in the last century.

In1945, the Korean Peninsula was divided by big powers for their interests. Oppositely this time, those powers should cooperate for the reunification of koean peninsula.

Japan is responsible for korea issue because it had colonized Korea 36 years. US and the Soviet Union have the resposibility to divide Korean Peninsula after world war II. China suppored North Korea during the korean war and made the current armistice system.

These days United States and Japan may not oppose the reunification of two Koreas. The Soviet Union had changed to Russia, and it wouldl not oppose the reunification of Koreas too. China has diplomatic relations with both Koreas. So it might be difficult to oppose the reunification of Korea.

The four powers which are responsible for the division of the Korean Peninsula should resolve the peaceful reunification of two Koreas in order to achieve world peace and alleviate the suffering of Korean people.

If the four powers can agree on the reunification of two Koreas, security concerns surrounding the Korean Peninsula, including the North Korean nuclear issue, can be easily resolved.

Just as the division of the Korean Peninsula, the war, and armistice took place by the agreement of the big powers, the unification of the Korean Peninsula can be realized by the agreemen of them.

I am confident that the unification of the Korean Peninsula and the North Korean nuclear issue can be resolved at the same time if the four powers around the Korean Peninsula come to an agreement.

I hope, today, you have good discussions and conclusions for the unification of the Korean Peninsula, which is the aspiration of the Korean people, and world peace, the aspiration of mankind. Thank you.
